Still Sayin’ After All These Years

I’m happy today to relaunch this blog. I’ve been offline a few weeks for an extensive refresh, now back with a new look and format.

I was maybe 10 or so when Mom & Dad gave me an Olivetti-Underwood typewriter, exactly like the one pictured here. I was a nerdy kid and loved it! I can still smell the oil and the typewriter ribbon — the cool kind with both black and red ink. I spent hours typing. Sometimes it was for a school assignment, but any excuse would do.

My love of keyboards and writing continued when computers came along. Eventually I launched a website — BobLaycock.com — and this blog. I first named it Just Sayin’ but over time it’s evolved in content and appearance.

I’ve strived in this new version for simplicity, reduced “busyness” or clutter, and greater accessibility. I have over 150 posts at this writing which can be difficult to find. To make it easier, my homepage now lists posts in tiles laid out in a grid format for quick scanning.

Earlier Versions

This is the blog format as it first appeared when I launched it in 2016. This screenshot is from around 2019, by which time I had renamed it Just Sayin’ 2.0. The cover picture was taken by Greg Dee, a former meteorologist at WKYC Channel 3, who gave me permission to use it.

Around 2020 I revamped the blog with a new look that I continued a few years. I liked the block style — until I grew tired of it!

So eventually I changed the layout again with this more traditional blog format, and with the current name Just Sayin’ Now. This is how the blog has appeared for the past few years until today.

Looking Ahead

So now to the future. I’ve not written much since just after the 2024 election. Life got too busy but is now starting to ease off — hopefully! I’ve got new posts in mind including one big project: to write a history of gay radio in Cleveland.

Watch for post announcements on Facebook and check here often.

Now, to the homepage
