◼︎MY PERSONAL JOURNEY
◻︎DAVID & ME
David and I have enjoyed a pleasant holiday weekend. The neighbors came over for drinks and conversation Friday evening and we got together with old friends and gay activist comrades on Sunday. It was good to gather with friends again, maskless, and even hug! We also watched The Celluloid Closet on TV. Good film.
On Saturday we took a short road trip east to an antique store David found online and Headlands Beach State Park near Mentor, Ohio.
Schoolhouse Salvage
The antique store, Schoolhouse Salvage, was a mixture of interesting antiques and contemporary gift shop items. We didn’t see anything that screamed “Buy me!” unfortunately, but business was brisk. The store seems to be doing a good business. These things caught my eye:
Headlands Beach State Park
David had never been to the Headland Beach State Park, or “Mentor Headlands,” before and I don’t think I ever was either. If I’ve been there I forget. It was beautiful and the weather was great. We checked out the beach then walked along the Buckeye Trail that parallels the coastline (and ultimately circles the wholw State of Ohio). We ended up at the Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve.

Here’s a selection of the days photos and video.

The lighthouse is a fascinating story I didn’t know even on Saturday when we saw it. I learned about it today while assembling this post, and found this video.
